Lena Jungbluth

Lena Jungbluth

Research Fellow

Lena is interested in applied behaviour change research projects with an environmental focus. Examples of her work include projects to reduce hospital waste, increase household energy efficiency, research environmentally-friendly travel behaviour, single-use plastics and responsible disposal of household chemicals and e-waste.

Lena joined BehaviourWorks in 2014 and has worked with many industry and government partners, including Zoos Victoria, Sustainability Victoria, EPA Victoria, the Department of Land, Water and Planning and the Department of Health and Human Services.

Besides research, Lena has broad experience in the design and delivery of face-to-face and online behaviour change training and workshops. She has run one-on-one training sessions with individual project teams and has delivered workshops on behavioural science, behaviour prioritisation, intervention design and project evaluation to partner organisations and staff from Australia’s public and private sector.

In 2021, Lena obtained an Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship and is currently undertaking a PhD at the Monash Sustainable Development Institute. Her research is looking at the implementation of behaviour change interventions in complex settings based on the example of reducing hospital waste. Lena’s PhD project is drawing on insights from behaviour change research and implementation science.

Prior to joining BWA, Lena worked in Germany on a project applying environmental psychology in the context of the German energy transition.

Lena holds a Master’s degree in Global Change Management from Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development, Germany, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany.
