Soaking in the heightened pleasures of ordinary life
The Covid-19 crisis is opening our hearts and minds to the experiences of people we don’t normally hear from, so let’s extend this to the experts on ‘lockdown’ and isolation – prisoners.
In this Monash Lens article, BehaviourWorks researcher, Abby Wild, draws on the autobiographical writings of former US prisoners, as well as field notes, interviews and letters gathered during her time conducting research in medium and maximum-security prisons.
The prisoners share insights on how coming out of lockdown is not just about breaking free of physical constraints, mental and emotional ones as well.
