If simple behavioural changes lead to more far-reaching and environmentally significant changes, it makes sense for governments and environmental organisations to advocate simple and painless changes in everyday behaviour. This phenomenon of one behaviour influencing the likelihood of performing another is known as pro-environmental behaviour spillover.
