Flexible learning for industry professionals
In May 2020, BehaviourWorks Australia and the Monash Sustainable Development Institute offered the first fully online micro-credential.
Applying Behavioural Science to Create Change brings together insights and experiences from leading behaviour change experts and includes eight modules of content (opposite).
Registrations for the eight-week course were rapid, with around 60 participants from all parts of Australia and countries such as the United States of America and South Africa enrolling for the 15 June to 7 August intake.
The professional backgrounds of participants varied widely and included local and state government agencies, non-profit organisations, small businesses, health institutions, fire authorities, Monash University and BehaviourWorks’ partners. Most participants (93.6%) are either directly involved in behaviour change or have taken an active role in interventions (74.5%).
Anecdotal feedback suggests that participants have found the course material, which includes videos, discussions, case studies and materials from a range of sectors including education, health, sustainability and environment and society, engaging and interesting.
Many are applying the learnings to their professional and personal lives and are actively involved in discussion forums, sharing behaviour change stories and ideas and engaging with the in-built eBook activities.
Registrations for the 14 September to 6 November course are also rolling in, with many people recognising the fact that, in these challenging times, it has never been more important to understand behaviour and how to influence it.
The course can be completed in 80 hours without assessment and up to 144 hours with an assessment.
Upon successful completion of the micro-credential, learners will have the capacity to:
